Picture size
Size the picture(s) so that the longest edge is 500 to 800
pixels wide or high.
A good software for doing this is IrfanView. It is free,
very small and available in several languages. Download this
freeware program at www.irfanview.com. Open your picture
in IrvanView or scan it directly and size it under the
Picture/Resize/Resample menu item. Mac users are happy with iPhoto
Picture format
Save it in JPEG (.JPG ) format, choose medium compression and name the file(s) after your last name (e.g. if your name is John Doe then please name them doe1.jpg, doe2.jpg ... (if you already have three pictures published please name new pictures doe4.jpg, doe5.jpg ...). A picture saved this way should not "weigh" more than 150 kilobytes.
